Somewhere Wes Welker is Smiling...

Karma is a b****, and the New England Patriots might be feeling her wrath after their mistreatment of former wide receiver Wes Welker.

Welker who has been the Patriots most productive receiver over the last six seasons, was unceremoniously allowed to walk in free agency as the Patriots opted for a youth movement in their receiving corps.

Maurice Jones-Drew didn’t win but neither did Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan refused to budge. Although many people believe that Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has outperformed his contract, Khan refused to cave-in to his star running back’s demands for a new contract.

And it seems that Khan won the standoff with Jones-Drew after Jones-Drew ended his 38-day holdout and returned to the team on Sunday despite not receiving the new contract he petitioned for.

Atlanta Falcons flashback profile: defensive tackle Jumpy Geathers

For every NFL player, fan and even us media types, there will always be that one player we watched growing up that helped us gain a bigger appreciation for the game of football beyond its X’s and O’s. For me that player was Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle James “Jumpy” Geathers.

Maybe Wes Welker isn’t getting the message…

Wes Welker has been locked into contract negotiations with the New England Patriots virtually since the moment the Patriots walked off the field after their Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants but there has been very little progress. Instead Welker has had the pleasure of watching the Patriots receiving core get a whole lot deeper over the offseason.

The latest signing is an ex-Patriot and former favorite target of Tom Brady’s, Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney left the Patriots’ organization in 2009 to join offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels in Denver but McDaniels came back to New England at the end of last year. It seems that Gaffney has decided to rejoin his former coordinator once again.

Is There a Market for Welker Outside New England?

Looking at Wes Welker’s numbers, you would expect him to receive a big payday this offseason. Welker has been the New England Patriots’ most productive receiver over the past five years but there are a couple of factors that may determine if he receives that big payday or not.

Current Patriots’ Offense More Potent than the 2007 Version

I know that’s hard to believe right? The New England Patriots went undefeated during the 2007 regular season with Tom Brady and Randy Moss setting a few records along the way. How could an offense that went undefeated during the regular season in 2007 be even more dangerous now, especially after losing a speedster and play-making weapon like Moss from its arsenal?
