Welker who has been the Patriots most productive receiver over the last six seasons, was unceremoniously allowed to walk in free agency as the Patriots opted for a youth movement in their receiving corps.

Shrewd move by New England Patriots picking up TE Jake Ballard

The New England Patriots continue to show why they are one of the best organizations in the NFL. The New York Giants waived tight end Jake Ballard in hopes that no one would claim him. They wanted to bring him back by putting him on their Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

But the Patriots claimed Ballard off waivers and now own the tight end’s rights which puts them in a great position going forward.
