Seattle Seahawks reach out to Terrell Owens

The sideshow that is Terrell Owens has taken another unsuspected turn, this time it may be for the good. The Seattle Seahawks who are in dire need of help at the wide receiver position have called in Owens for a workout on Monday.

Owens has been attempting to get back into the NFL since his last stint with the Cincinnati Bengals back in 2010. Although he had a pretty productive season for the Bengals catching 72 passes for 983 yards, the Bengals were reluctant to re-sign Owens after his one-year contract with them expired.

Owen missed a chance to catch on with a team last year after it was disclosed that he had suffered an ACL injury during the offseason. Even before reports of the knee injury surfaced, teams were already leery of signing the then 37-year-old receiver who had already burned a lot of bridges during stints in Dallas, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Buffalo due to his cancerous attitude.

One thing that has always been constant about Owens though is that he continues to keep himself in tip-top shape. Owens still sports one of the league’s most chiseled bodies which he had on display during a workout he put on for NFL teams last year.

While no teams actually showed up to watch Owens workout, he and his agent Drew Rosenhaus video-taped the workout and invited members of the press to view Owens who appeared healthy only months after his knee surgery.

Owens is now 38 years old and is no longer the threat he used to be so it remains to be seen whether he will be successful convincing a team to open up a roster spot for him. Seahawks' coach Pete Carroll has a reputation for giving second chances to players most teams don’t want and may be Owens last shot at playing in the league again.

Although Owens didn’t play in the NFL last season he did play eight games for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League earlier this year.

  1. "Owens who appeared healthy only months after his knee surgery."

Did you actually WATCH that workout or are you just saying this second hand? He was terribly slow in and out of his breaks, he didn't plant very effectively when pivoting, and while he did have the top-gear the elite acceleration wasn't there anymore.

There's a reason why his workout aired on NFL Network but nobody in the NFL cared. Now he's had a lot of time since then to recover and rumor is he's back to playing shape. But saying he looked healthy after the workout is like saying Rex Grossman looks like a good QB after he completes a pass... to the wrong team.
